It’s crazy what you can learn about business from the simplest children’s book.
My son has a beautiful Eric Carle book (he’s the illustrator behind “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”) called “The Very Busy Spider.” 🕷️🕸️
The spider is busy building her web, and a variety of animals come by to distract her!
“Want to take a nap?” asks the cat.
“Want to eat some grass?” asks the cow.
“Want to roll in the mud?” asks the pig.
Each time, the spider doesn’t answer. The book reads, “She was very busy spinning her web.”
And at the end? She catches herself a tasty fly and falls into a restful sleep.
This may seem simple, but this spider knows the secret to business success.
Keep your focus. Ignore distractions. Keep your eye on the prize.
If you do those things, you WILL find success.
It’s the distractions, the doubt, the imposter syndrome, and the shiny objects that will take your eyes off the prize: that juicy fly (or, in your case, your business goals!)
So be like the spider. Don’t even acknowledge the distractions. Keep your head down. Keep on spinning that web. Your fly (and your good night’s rest!) is coming.
What hard decisions have you needed to make to keep your eyes on the prize? I want to hear about it! Sent me a DM/voice note over on instagram (@hellojunecreative). I would love to chat with you! 💌
