I used to be terrified to share about my faith on my business page.
What if I lost followers?
What if someone judged me?
What if it was inappropriate or unprofessional?
All these thoughts bounced around in my head until one day, I decided to just go for it—and posted one of those trending letterboard images to my feed.
To this day, it’s my most popular and highest engaged post—and that’s not a coincidence.
People ask me often how or if I recommend them integrating their faith life into their business life, and I have to say it not only changed my business for the better but helped me get closer to living fully in my faith rather than only letting it “show” in certain contexts.
Matthew 5:14-16 spells this out in the most beautiful way: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
I share my faith in my business circles not in a “look how amazing I am” way, but in perfectly imperfect, in-the-moment, authentic-to-me ways like:
It got to the point in my business where I couldn’t NOT share about my relationship with Jesus. And that not only helped me live more in alignment with God’s command to share his grace with the world, but also helped me get connected to so many amazing people who share that faith journey. Now, many of my clients and mentees are Christian, and the ones that aren’t still love me and respect my faith.
And if someone felt uncomfortable with my faith? It wouldn’t be a good fit, and it would leave room for someone to connect with me who respected my values. (Not ONCE have I gotten any negative feedback from sharing my faith journey, so I hope that encourages you!)
