Sometimes, I need a reminder to look at things from a different angle.
I’m not a huge football fan, but I will always watch a Jameis Winston (a Cleveland Browns player) interview.
He was asked in a pre-game interview (that went viral—he ended up winning the game!) how he was going to approach playing in the snow in Cleveland (he’s from Florida, like me).
Did he say he was dreading playing? That he was unfamiliar with the weather? That he was…COLD?
No!!
He said, “I am so happy and grateful that the Lord has blessed me to play in some SNOW!! To be in true football weather in Cleveland, Ohio…to give him the glory. It’s a beautiful day.”
It was, in fact, not a beautiful day—a blizzard hit during the game. 😅
Jamies was even spotted doing snow angels on the field after the game!
His interview stuck with me long after I heard it. Why can’t I have that perspective in life when things get hard?
Instead of “I’m so tired” it could be… “I am so grateful to spend these early morning moments with my son.”
Instead of “I feel so overwhelmed” it could be… “I am so lucky to be able to have a booked out work calendar.”
Instead of “I just want to sit down and be left alone” (moms, IYKYK) it could be… “I’m going to relish in being needed right now because I know it won’t last.”
What a gift to be able to experience inconvenience, sleepless nights, busy days, tired bones. To give Him the glory, as Jameis Winston said.
Anyone else relate to needing a perspective shift sometimes? I want to hear more. Hit reply and let me know one way you’ve changed up your attitude around something in your life!
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” —Colossians 3:17
